Happy International Flamenco Day šŸ’ƒ

Y ser flamenco es cosa:
es tener otra carne
alma, pasiones, piel, insintos y deseos;
es otro ver el mundo,
con el sentido grande;
el sino de la conciencia,
la musica en los nervios,
fireza independiente,
alegrƭa con lƔgrimas,
y la pena, y la vida y
el amor ensombreciendo,
odiar lo rutinario,
el mƩtodo que castra
embeberse en el cante,
en el vino y los besos;
convertir en un arte sutil,
y de capricho y libertad, la vida;
sin aceptar el hierro de la mediocridad;
poner todo a un envite;
saborearse, darse, sentirse,
vivir!

TomĆ”s BorrĆ”s, “ElegĆa del cantaor”

And to be flamenco is something:
it is to have another flesh,
soul, passions, skin, instincts, and desires;
it is another way to see the world,
with a profound sense;
the fate of conscience,
music in the nerves,
independent fierceness,
joy with tears,
and the sorrow, and life, and
love shadowing everything,
to hate the routine,
the method that stifles,
to immerse oneself in the song,
in wine and kisses;
to turn life into a subtle art,
of whimsy and freedom;
without accepting the yoke of mediocrity;
to wager it all in one throw;
to savor, to give oneself, to feel oneself,
to live!
