What being a dancer is like

I think people underestimate the power of a dancer.

I always get comments like “Dancing is easy” “It’s not that important” “There she goes again with the dance and its importance”.

Well, I must tell you, behind every dancer, there is a lot of work and dedication, which is primordial.

A dancer gets to study, in fact, a dancer never ends studying during artistic life, this discipline is always evolving.

A dancer must have physical resistance;

Flexibility;

Coordination;

Control over the body in motion;

Equilibrium;

Projection of the body at the different points on stage;

Must be aware of music (especially if they dance flamenco or Spanish dance);

A dancer needs inner strength;

Must express what words cannot explain;

Dancers sometimes feel underestimated,

they have pain in the muscles as any other athlete;

they suffer from injuries.

Many times is just a matter of luck if they are found.

There are plenty of talented dancers who are not discovered

However, what matters is to shine on their own,

even if they feel alone.

It’s difficult to be a dancer, besides, this art is sublime and complex,

only the ones who practice it understand the value and what’s behind it.
