For the day after visiting Tour Eiffel and the Arc de Triomphe, we planned on going to Louvre Museum, I was wise this time, I save my red not too high sandals in my fiancè’s bag, so when I have to take pictures I just have switch shoes.
Today’s look was also inspired by Parisian style, black and white striped top, wine laced shorts and red crossed sandals.

We booked the tickets at 2:45 pm, so after visiting the Picasso museum, we took the metro and got inside the commercial centre close to the Louvre around 12:30, I was starving, and I’m sure my fiancè was too, but he was quite discrete.
So we had some baguettes at a truck in the open park, mine with tomatoes and avocado, I’m fond of avocado sandwiches 😋 there were no seats around, most tourists were sitting down even in the grass, and I found an empty spot in the grass, half in the shadows half in the sun, but better than nothing.

After an hour we decided to go inside the shops again, it was extremely hot and maybe we could sit down inside and drink something.
I found a macaron shop, it looked like a luxurious chocolate shop, you know, the ones in Belgium, but of macarons.
I’ve got a 12 box for my family with all the flavours I saw, rosè, citric fruits, blueberries, vanilla, dark chocolate, Napoleon, coffee, caramel, pistachio etc.

I was all happy with my success on this well-looking-I-want-to-eat-them-all macaron, my fiancè told me to get something to drink on the second floor, maybe a Mcflurry at McDonald’s, I agreed, unfortunately, the franchise was crowded so we chose a coffee shop close to it, to eat Ice cream and get juice for him, he loves fruit juices.
Those 3 scoops of ice cream were the hardest task I’ve had to eat, I was so full and they were giant scoops, delicious though.

Continuing with our adventure of the day, we got to the Louvre museum, the sun was intense, and you could feel it itching your skin, we waited in what was supposed to be the priority queue.
Once we got inside, they control the tickets and then we could go wherever we want to, we wanted to see the Monalisa first, so we went straight to the painting area, the main corridor with the masterpieces of art was huge, we had to see to the sides, in the small corridors, until… we found it, guards with monitors outside and in the perimeter area around the painting, everyone was inside in a long queue trying to get the best and close picture of the tiny and oppressive painting, I must feel overwhelmed if I were a painting with all that many people around me.
We tried to get as close as we could, with not too much success, better than nothing, and then we left to see the rest of the paintings and the sculpture area.
I love art, I studied art at high school and I adore how art can express so much if you are set to understand it, I mean every form of art.
I like to watch and admire every detail of the paintings, it’s like reading something the artists wanted to transmit, every brushstroke, the colour, the shape, those elements help you a lot to understand.
The Louvre museum was kinda organised the same way as the British Museum, with different areas depending on the year, artistic movement and nationality.
After walking and observing most of the paintings we got to the sculpture area, and I was shocked, I finally could see one of my favourites, Cupid and Psyche by Canova 💓
It feels ethereal to see it there, in person, people were gathered around to take pictures of the masterpiece.

History of Cupid and Psyche
Canova carved the fable of Cupid and Psyche in marble. Psyche was an incredibly seductive girl, and unleashed the jealousies of the goddess Venus who, envious of the beauty of what in the end was only a mortal, decided to take revenge with the help of her son Love, who was supposed to make her fall in love with a rough man that did not reciprocate.
However, as soon as Cupid saw Psyche’s celestial beauty, he fell madly in love with her and decided with the help of Zephyr to transport her to his palace. There Psyche spent nights with Amor burning with love and passion, without however being able to look at the face of her lover: Amor, in fact, never revealed her own identity, to avoid the furious anger of her mother Venus. With all this, excited by her sisters, Psyche broke the pact and saw the face of the man that overwhelmed her senses: as a result, Love, taken by indignation, moved away from Psyche, who was thrown into utter despair.
In order to be able to reunite with the divine consort, Psyche declared herself willing to face a series of tests to obtain immortality, overcoming them brilliantly, despite their atrocious difficulty. On the other hand, they had been organized by Venus who, taken by anger, decided to subject the girl to the most difficult test: to descend into the Underworld and ask the goddess Proserpina to grant her a little of her beauty. Thus it was that Psyche received an ampoule from Proserpina and, taken by curiosity, opened it and, to her great bewilderment, she discovered that the vase did not contain beauty, but an infernal sleep that made her sleep deeply. Love, once he learns of his lover’s tragic fate, will go to Psyche and awaken her with a kiss: this is precisely the moment that Canova wanted to eternalize in marble.
It’s such a romantic history, I recalled after telling this to my fiancè with sparkling eyes, I even took pictures of the background.
“Why are you taking pictures of their ass?”. Said my fiacè
“It’s for my documentary, I’m here and want every detail”. He doesn’t understand 🥺
After our visit to the Louvre museum, we booked a dinner at the Seine, on a boat, it was absolutely lovely, all elegant, the food was so delicious, and the music suits perfectly the romantic scenario around the view of the Tour Eiffel from the boat 🥰
I even danced! the singer was so sweet, she came close to every table to sing along and make the girls dance. I must tell you I failed, I tried to make my fiancè dance, it was mission impossible.
However, it was the best evening ever!

That was all about the adventure of the day, hope you have a wonderful day reader!

Aggrandisement
In many towns, through countless skies I have roamed, Yet pieces of me linger, softly sewn Into the bricks of silent walls, The winding streets where I would fall. There I learned – and there I bled, Where every echo softly said: “You were once this shadow here. A whisper caught in yesteryear”. The breezeContinue…
